Trust has to be earned every day

“The personnel of the best companies trust their managers, feel pride in what they do, and enjoy working with their colleagues.” This is how Great Place to Work® Institute defines a good workplace. It’s all about quite fundamental life values: trust, pride, and quality relationships.

Descom has grown both organically and through corporate acquisitions over the last few years. There are many new faces at work who I would like to get to know better. It is no longer our safe little nest; it is a growth company. Still, people trust, feel pride, and like each other. How is that possible?

Trust is built every day by listening to people, appreciating them, taking their opinions into account, and through genuine dialogue. Trust comes from never turning our back on each other, but talking through even the hard things. In a growth company, everyone has their own conception of the whole, depending on when they have come aboard. That is why we need continuous discussion about where we are now and where we are going. Strategy is the path we are walking together, and our vision must be clear for everyone.

When we participated for the first time in Great Place to Work®, good team spirit was a reoccurring theme in the personnel’s feedback. The same result was found in the latest study. Descom is us, and everyone’s individual contribution to this whole is significant and important. All of our employees, including the management, have this attitude, and that is why we keep improving our results in the survey year after year. With a good team spirit and mutual trust, we have built ourselves a great place to work, which has a strong history and a straight path to the future.

Minna Liminka

I am a HR Manager because I want to have an influence on the well-being of our work community. I read all the job applications sent to us and I am involved in almost every interview. I like recruiting events, and I cooperate with schools. I am very passionate about my work, and I hope that I can sometimes inspire others, too.

Thank you
