Descom wins the IBM Distinguished Business Achievement Award
For the Descom people at the Lotusphere 2012 conference, the excitement was tangible as we anticipated the IBM Social Business Awards 2012 ceremony. We were up against the other finalists of the North-Eastern Europe region, the best IBM Partners of Germany and the UK. Finally, IBM Vice President Sandy Carter announced that Descom was the winner of the Distinguished Business Achievement Award for North-Eastern Europe!
The Distinguished Business Achievement Award is given annually to the most successful IBM PartnerWorld Business Partners of eight major geographical regions. The award winners have achieved continuously increasing revenue; they have been able to open new regional markets; and they have been loyal to IBM technology. The awarded Partners are respected members of the IBM Partner Community, and they are generally considered rising stars in their field.

Descom was described as follows:
Descom is an exceptional and distinguished IBM social business partner and is a social business partner role model to other partners and to IBMers. They have a fantastic attitude that is focused on creating, growing, and winning in the social business market. Descom is making a difference and growing ICS marketshare in Northeast Europe (NE) IOT against Jive, Microsoft, and Liferay. The Descom sales force is very capable of working independently on opportunities, creating new business, and actively driving the cases from OI to close.
The Konehuone (infrastructure provider: IBM Servers and Storage) acquisition enables Descom to provide IBM Collaborations Solutions as a service. This opens a new market area for Finland and the Nordics and other countries in Europe.
Descom is the most important ICS Business Partner in the Nordics. They have heavily invested in ICS technology skills for IBM Connections, WebSphere Portal, Lotus Notes and Domino, and IBM Sametime. Their sales force prospects new opportunities like no other Business Partner and their pipeline management and close rate is excellent. The Social Business AGENDA is the cornerstone of their strategy. They live social; they are active on Twitter; and they do regular blogs on IBM.
